Winnemucca, Nevada is the cross-road linking the northern route on US Highway 95 from Oregon and Idaho to Interstate 80 which spans from East to West across northern Nevada, bridging the gap between central California and Utah.  Many people are surprised to find us in this high desert landscape and our City is often referred to as an “oasis in the desert” by those passing through.

According to the United State Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.3 square miles (21.4 km2), none of which is covered by water.
