| Making our community a better place to live and visit............................ |
Construction will be underway soon on several beautification and recreational projects in the near future. The City is taking advantage of available grant funding to assist with project costs. Keep watching for progress on the following enhancement projects around our community:
Haskell Street Project The scope of this beautification project will extend the full length of the northwest side of Haskell Street (parallel to the railroad tracks) from the intersection of Hanson Street and Grass Valley Road (US Post Office) heading east intersecting with Winnemucca Blvd. Decorative historical lighting, pedestrian walkways and landscaping are just a few of the enhancements that will beautify this busy street. This project will be publicly advertised for bid in September 2008 with an expected completion date sometime in 2009, weather permitting. |
Humboldt River Walk Project This recreational walk with nature will be located along both banks of the Humboldt River that cross under US Highway 95 North. Landscaping and concrete walkways will be provided to enhance your nature walk. The contract to construct this project was awarded to Hunewill Construction and is expected to be completed in winter 2008. |
Gateway Projects As visitors enter the City limits from the freeway off-ramps, it is agreed that what they see with the eye adds a lot of weight to that "first impression" they register about our community. The City of Winnemucca intends to beautify two gateway entrances to our fair City, one located on the west end of town on West Winnemucca Blvd. (near McDonald's) and the other at the east end of town also on Winnemucca Blvd. (at the intersection of the new car museum project, south City side of the freeway). New landscaping will introduce trees and natural brushes indigenous to our area. These projects will be advertised in the Spring of 2009 with completion during the summer months. |
